The show’s creator, Hwang Dong-Hyuk said that season 2 was in its planning stages.
He is not keen on it being as big of a hit as season 1 since the stress of filming the first season caused him to lose 6 teeth.

In a statement, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos stated that the Squid Game universe had just begun.
This opens up the possibility of many more seasons to come and maybe even a spin-off series or a sequel.
Netflix has confirmed that season 2 will lead actors Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun in reprising roles. They also hinted at Gong Yoo’s return.
Netflix has not announced a formal release date for the series yet.
However, the first season was announced in 2019 and production took two years to complete so even with the most optimistic timeline, season 2 probably not arrive till late 2023.
