Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, a professor of politics &d public administration was appointed the 1st woman vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University-Delhi.
Santishree Dhulipudi is of Telugu Origin. She is married to Niranjan.B.Pandit a Senior SAP Consultant, with one daughter who is a software engineer in the US.

Soon after the announcement of her appointment, there was an uproar on social media over controversial tweets from an unverified Twitter handle in her name (@SantishreeD). The handle, which had tweets calling Jamia Millia Islamia and St. Stephen’s College “communal campuses”, used slurs for Indian Christians and described civil rights activists as “mentally-ill jihadists”, was deleted following the uproar.

BJP MP Varun Gandhi said the V-C’s statement was an “exhibition of illiteracy”. He said such “mediocre appointments serve to damage our human capital”.
