Post Covid-19, full-fledged Hajj pilgrimage begins in holy city of Mecca
Hajj began on the eighth day of Dhul Hijjah month and it will last for five days
Men wear stitchless, two-piece garment, and enter a sacred state of Ihram. Women wear loose-fitting clothes and cover their hair
On the first day of Hajj, pilgrims circle the Kaaba in counter-clockwise for seven times while reciting prayers
They walk between the hills of Safa and Marwah, seven times in a reenactment of Prophet Abraham’s wife Hagar’s search for water for her son, Ismael
Mecca reverberates as men in white Ihram and women in black abayas utter Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik
After Fajr prayers in Mecca , pilgrims travel to Mina. They spend the day and night there praying
The following day, pilgrims climb on mount Arafat and remain there praying and repenting, until after sunset
This is the single most important day of Hajj and pilgrims cannot afford to miss it
Later, pilgrims head to Muzdalifah, a valley between Mina and Mount Arafat. They spend the day and night praying
All pilgrims gather small pebbles at Mina for stoning the devil
After Fajr prayers on 10th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims travel from Muzdalifah to Jamarat. At this place, they throw the pebbles at three pillars representing the Devil
Subsequently, men shave off their heads, and women cut off a lock of their hair
Pilgrims also sacrifice an animal and share the meat with the needy people
After rituals, the pilgrims travel back to Mecca and Masjid al-Haram aka the Grand Mosque
Pilgrims perform Tawaf al-Wadaa marking the conclusion of Hajj pilgrimage
